Improvement of Super-Morzine link to Avoriaz this winter.
The Super Morzine cable car (telecabine) provides a direct link from Morzine to Avoriaz ski area. The disadvantage of this route to Avoriaz is that it does not take you to the heart of the resort: you need to take a further chairlift (Zore), then a blue run (Seraussaix) then a final chairlift (Proclou).
For the 2014/15 winter season, this link has been improved with the replacement of two of the lifts. At busy times, there were long queues at both the Seraussaix and Proclou lifts. These are both being replaced with higher capacity lifts which should mean an easier journey to and from Avoriaz at peak times.
Proclou chairlift (TSD).
This relatively recent chairlift was originally installed in 1996 and is of the modern “clutch” style variable speed lift. It had a capacity of 2400 persons / hour. It is being replaced with a 6 seater version, which will increase capacity to 3200 persons / hour. It will include a “magic carpet” to move skiers onto the seats.
Seraussaix chairlift (TSF).
The current chairlift is a four seater of the old “fixed” speed style and was installed in 1987. It is being replaced with a modern “clutch” style variable speed 6 seater. This will take the annual capacity of the lift from 1500 persons / hour to 2600 persons / hour. This provides the link on the return journey from Avoriaz to Super Morzine. The positioning of the chairlift is also changing slightly, the the top of the lift allowing a quicker return to the Zore run.
